The Brain Tumor Center

The Columbia Brain Tumor Center is co-directed by Drs. Jeffrey Bruce of Neurological Surgery and Dr. Steven Rosenfeld of Neurooncology. Over 400 patients per year undergo surgery for brain tumors at Columbia, making it one of the busiest brain tumor centers in the United States. In addition to providing innovative care for common brain tumors such as gliomas, the multidisciplinary team provides specialized care for patients with complex tumors including acoustic neuromas/schwannomas, meningiomas, colloid cysts, pituitary tumors, pineal tumors, skull base tumors, and pediatric tumors. Our surgeons utilize state of the art techniques including minimally invasive approaches, computer based stereotaxis, neuroendoscopy, awake brain mapping, and electrophysiological mapping to maximize tumor removal and mimimize risk in brain tumor surgery. In addition, we utilize novel treatment approaches developed through a nationally acclaimed neuro-oncology research program. Brain tumor patients are cared for in coordinated fashion by our skilled neurosurgeons in concert with our dedicated neurooncologists.
